Wards Brook at Age of Sail

The rich ship building tradition of the Parrsboro shore was founded in safe harbours and waterways created by our geologic past. At Port Greville, protection was afforded the shipyards by the fault scarp on Ward’s Brook.

Geological Formation: Cobequid Fault
Age: Carboniferous (350-300 million years)
Directions: At Port Greville, on Highway 2, the Age of Sail Museum boardwalk leads along Wards Brook, with interpretive signage.

What is a Geopark?

A Geopark is a designation that attracts tourists wishing to explore the connections between geology, local communities, culture, and nature. Geoparks are designed to promote tourism and celebrate a region’s uniqueness, and do not prohibit any land use.
