Leake Lake
Situated at the foot of the Cobequid Highlands, Leake Lake tells the story of great blocks of ice that were trapped on land as ice-age glaciers melted and retreated to the north. These chunks of ice were buried by sediment carried in great rivers formed from the melting glaciers. Today, the chunks of ice have melted but, the space where they sat remains as a depression in the land (called a Kettle) that has since filled with water and become a favourite local swimming hole!
Leake lake is located an accessible 10 minute walk behind the Sunshine Inn, 4487 Nova Scotia Trunk 2, Parrsboro, NS B0M 1S0 in the Lake Lands Scenic Drive
